Caravana Arcoiris por la Paz

Founded in 1996 in Mexico, la Caravana is a social service project and mobile ecovillage whose mission is to bring ecological consciousness and education to the Americas. Staffed by a crew of some 20 volunteers from many parts of the world, la Caravana uses theatre, workshops, courses, conferences, audiovisuals and events to teach people to take better care of the Earth. Financed largely through its works for governments, institutions, and ONGs in the countries it visits, it also receives donations and grants for specific projects. Recognized as a pioneer model for sustainable living, and training center for future social and cultural leaders, la Caravana forms part of the Ecovillages Network of the Americas and the Global Ecovillages Network. It has organized similar events in Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil and Ecuador.

Alberto Ruz Buenfil
Born in Mexico, writer, lecturer, theatre producer,associate fellow of Ashoka, and international peace promoter; Co-founder of the ecovillage of Huehuecoyotl, Mexico in 1982; Founding member and coordinator of the Rainbow Peace Caravan; Author of “The Rainbow Warriors”, “The Legend of the Fourth Wiseman” and “Sacbe, the Luminous Path of the Maya”; Son of archaeologist Dr. Alberto Ruz Lhullier, recognized for the discovery of the Royal Tombs of Palenque of the great Mayan ruler Pakal Votan.

Alejandra Liora Adler
Social activist, psychologist, nutritionist, facilitator and specialist in the consensus decision making process; Co-founder of the Ecovillage Huehuecoyotl in Mexico and co-founder and coordinator of la Caravana Arcoiris por la Paz. Representative of the nine regions of the Americas to the Global Ecovillage Network, which she represents at the UN; Associate of the International Institute of Facilitation and Consensus; Representative of the Caribbean Region of the Ecovillage Network of the Americas; Vice-President of Cielo Azul Foundation; and Board Member of Global Village Institute for Appropriate Technology.

Comunidad Tawantinsuyu

A non-profit, non-governmental organization, primarily dedicated to research, preservation, education and practice of Andean ancestral knowledge and traditional medicine, as well as the defense of the cultural and spiritual values of native and peasant communities. It contributes to the integral development of human beings based on the wisdom of the ancestors, fundamental sustainability principles, and the new concepts of intercultural health.

Agustín Guzmán
Chairman of the Board of Directors of COMUNIDAD TAWANTINSUYU.  During the last 15 years he has studied, practiced and promoted Traditional Medicine in Peru and abroad.  He is a Medicine Man.  Lecturer in subjects such as Traditional Medicine, Biodiversity, Indigenous and Inka Culture.  Member of the World Federation of Traditional Medicine.

Mary Ann Eddowes
Member of the Board of Director of COMUNIDAD TAWANTINSUYU.  Professional Congress Organizer (OPC).  She is a current member of OPC PERU, the organization  of professional congress organizers in the country.  Professor of "Professional Congress Organization" at the School of Tourism Administration in San Ignacio de Loyola University.  Since seven years ago she is a Medicine Woman.

Mateo Arévalo
Director of COMUNIDAD TAWANTINSUYU.  He belongs to the native community Shipibo and has participated in various projects in the Amazon region.  Since 1980 he has been a Shaman healer in his community as well as in various others.

Francisco Román
Associate member of COMUNIDAD TAWANTINSUYU.  He will soon graduate from the School of Tourism Administration in San Ignacio de Loyola University.  He has participated in several projects related to Sustainable Development during 2001.   Since 2000 he has worked in Professional Congress Organization.  Several years ago he began practicing and studying Traditional Medicine.

Continental Bioregional Congress

Bioregionalism means working to satisfy basic needs locally, relying on renewable energy and sustainable agriculture, developing local enterprises based on local skills and strengths.Bioregionalism challenges and is an alternative to nationalism, corporate rule, and top-down globalization of our lives. Bioregionalism embraces the struggle to preserve, restore and enhance the life of the places that constitute the planet. Since 1984 bioregionalists have been gathering in congresses to envision and develop a realistic, restorative way of life in the bioregions of the Americas.

Fundacion Cielo Azul

Cielo Azul is an international foundation with offices in Ecuador, Switzerland. Sweden and Germany. Founded and headed by spiritual healer Axel Rudin, it proposes the reunification of philosophies, paths and diverse methods of spiritual healing through mass gatherings, conferences, workshops and individual work. Among its projects, Cielo Azul is currently promoting the creation of ecovillages and specialized schools for Indigo children.

Axel Rudin
Spiritual Healer.  Born in Sweden and raised in Mozambique and Ethiopia, Axel has traveled through 90 countries and speaks 10 languages.  He organizes mass healings, events and congresses to raise communal consciousness and unite cultures, religions, and people throughout the world.  Since 1999 he has given conferences, workshops, and courses in Conscious Creation, Self and Planetary Healing in hundreds of schools, universities, and spiritual centers, some 90 to 120 workshops a year.  He works to raise planetary consciousness and teach people how to heal themselves and the Earth.

Global Ecovillage Network (GEN)

The Global Ecovillage Network connects 15,000 ecological villages and traditional communities on the path to economical, ecological, social and cultural sustainability. With offices in Australia, Sri Lanka , Italy , Senegal and nine regions of the Americas , GEN uses its web presence, newsletters and organization of gatherings to promote its activities all over the planet.GEN is a consultant to the ECOSOC of the UN, and has recently participated at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg. Its new book “Ecovillage Living: Restoring the Earth and its People” will be available at the Council for those interested.

Ecovillage Network Of The Americas (ENA)

The mission of ENA is to unite efforts throughout the Americas that pursue a global transformation towards an ecologically, economically and culturally sustainable future. It is part of GEN and it works as a link between the representatives of North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean bioregion. Its goal is to promote the creation of new ecovillages and to create a supportive and cooperation network amongst those which already exist.

The Continental Bioregional Congress

It was founded during the 1980s by social and environmental activists, poets, artists, and healers dedicated to the creation of a Charter for the Earth and all its inhabitants, including not only humans, but all the natural elements.. It has put together eight congresses in Canada and the U.S., one of them in coalition with the Vision Council of Mexico, the “First Bioregional Congress of the Americas” held in Mexico in 1996.

Vision Council: Guardians Of The Earth

This movement originated in Mexico in the beginning of the 1990s, to provide an annual space for the realization of bioregional gatherings, create an informal network among groups from all over the country, and facilitate a link with the alternative movements of North and South America. It has put together eight gatherings in different bioregions of the country, and it offers its wide experience to “Call of the Condor” in the preparation and realization of the event.

Comunidad Humana El Manicomio Azul

Founded by Rodolfo Rodríguez and Addie Barandiarán, Comunidad Humana is located in the town of Paucartambo in the State of Cusco.  It is an experimental farm of fruit trees which was completely abandoned when the project began.  One of its important characteristics is the adaptation of micro-climates specific to each type of plant.  At this time, they are recuperating the farm and have created a hostel named Tambo Azul to finance the development of environmental projects as well as the management of the ecology board for the region. 

Its objective is to share the activities of the project with neighboring communities and with people from outlying provinces so that it becomes a multiplier of knowledge and techniques and a way to learn and to preserve the ancestral wisdom of the surrounding communities. 

Addie Barandiarán
Photographer and translater, concert and events organizer, founded, together with Rodolfo Rodríguez, the project Comunidad Humana El Manicomio Azul, which has a special interest in the conservation of indigenous knowledge.

Rodolfo Rodríguez
Rodolfo Rodríguez of Cusco, is a mime, actor, theater director and founder of the group Tawa.  This profession led him to present in different theatres in Latin America and after practicing his profession for more than 20 years, he decided to also dedicate himself to the preservation of the environment and to traditional cultures.  For this reason he founded Comunidad Humana El Manicomio Azul in Paucartambo, Cusco.  He is also the director of the Municipal Radio of Paucartambo and is in charge of the Ecology Board of the region.
